Zip a folder

Right-click the folder in Finder and choose Compress — a .zip appears beside it. From Terminal, ditto makes the same Finder-compatible zip in one line.

Without Terminal

  1. Right-click the folder in Finder.
  2. Choose Compress "Folder Name".
  3. Send the .zip that appears beside it.

In one command

Make a zip exactly like Finder’s Compress does:

ditto -c -k --keepParent "My Folder" "My Folder.zip"

Need a password on it? That is a different command — see “Zip a folder with a password”.

Or just ask Titan
Zip the Project folder on my Desktop so I can email it. Do it with Titan

Titan is an AI that lives on your computer: tell it what you need and it does it while you watch — you press Return, nothing runs by itself. What is Titan?

Titan isn’t on this computer yet. Get Titan, then press the button again — the task will be waiting, typed in.
