Find what is taking up disk space

System Settings → General → Storage shows which categories are largest and lets you review large files. To list every file over a size, Spotlight’s mdfind answers instantly: mdfind 'kMDItemFSSize > 500000000' finds everything over 500 MB.

Without Terminal

  1. Open System Settings → General → Storage.
  2. Click the ⓘ next to Documents.
  3. Open “Large Files” and sort by size.

In one command

Every file over 500 MB in your home folder:

mdfind -onlyin ~ 'kMDItemFSSize > 500000000'

Old installers are the usual culprits — list disk images in Downloads:

ls -lhS ~/Downloads/*.dmg

Only delete what you recognise. An app’s own data folders are big for a reason.

Or just ask Titan
What are the biggest files on my computer, and which ones are old installers I can delete? Do it with Titan

Titan is an AI that lives on your computer: tell it what you need and it does it while you watch — you press Return, nothing runs by itself. What is Titan?

Titan isn’t on this computer yet. Get Titan, then press the button again — the task will be waiting, typed in.
