Find and replace text in many files

BBEdit and VS Code have multi-file find and replace. With nothing installed, sed replaces text in every matching file in one command — on copies first.

How

Make copies to work on:

cp -R notes notes-copy && cd notes-copy

Replace “Acme Inc” with “Acme Ltd” in every .txt file:

sed -i '' 's/Acme Inc/Acme Ltd/g' *.txt

sed -i changes the files in place, with no undo — that is why the copy comes first. Check a couple of files before using the originals.

Or just ask Titan
Change every mention of our old company name in these docs to the new one. Do it with Titan

Titan is an AI that lives on your computer: tell it what you need and it does it while you watch — you press Return, nothing runs by itself. What is Titan?

Titan isn’t on this computer yet. Get Titan, then press the button again — the task will be waiting, typed in.
