Copy a file’s full path

Select the file in Finder and press ⌥⌘C (Option-Command-C) — the full path is copied, ready to paste. In Terminal, realpath prints it, and dragging a file into Terminal types it in.

Without Terminal

  1. Select the file in Finder.
  2. Press ⌥⌘C, or right-click, hold Option, and choose Copy “…” as Pathname.

In one command

Print the full path of a file:

realpath report.pdf
Or just ask Titan
What’s the full path of the report I was editing? Do it with Titan

Titan is an AI that lives on your computer: tell it what you need and it does it while you watch — you press Return, nothing runs by itself. What is Titan?

Titan isn’t on this computer yet. Get Titan, then press the button again — the task will be waiting, typed in.
