Convert PNG images to JPG
Open the PNG in Preview, choose File → Export, and pick JPEG with a quality you like. For many at once, sips converts every PNG in a folder, and -s formatOptions sets the JPEG quality.
Without Terminal
- Open the PNG in Preview.
- File → Export…
- Choose JPEG, set Quality, and Save.
In one command
Convert every PNG in the folder to a JPG at quality 85:
for f in *.png; do sips -s format jpeg -s formatOptions 85 "$f" --out "${f%.*}.jpg"; done
JPEG has no transparency: a PNG with a see-through background comes out with a solid one.
