Combine photos into one PDF

Select the images in Finder, right-click, and choose Quick Actions → Create PDF — they become one PDF in the order selected. From Terminal, sips turns each image into a PDF page and the built-in join tool stitches them together.

Without Terminal

  1. Select the images in Finder, in the order you want.
  2. Right-click → Quick Actions → Create PDF.
  3. Rename the new PDF that appears beside them.

In one command

Turn each image into a one-page PDF:

for f in *.jpg; do sips -s format pdf "$f" --out "${f%.*}.pdf"; done

Join the pages into one file:

"/System/Library/Automator/Combine PDF Pages.action/Contents/MacOS/join" -o photos.pdf *.pdf

The join step also picks up any other PDF in the folder — run it in a folder that holds only these pages.
