See which apps are using the internet

Activity Monitor’s Network tab lists every app with how much it has sent and received. Terminal’s nettop shows the same thing live, or once with -L 1.

Without Terminal

  1. Open Activity Monitor.
  2. Click the Network tab.
  3. Sort by Sent Bytes or Rcvd Bytes.

In one command

Bytes in and out per app, once:

nettop -P -L 1 -J bytes_in,bytes_out
Or just ask Titan
Which app is eating my bandwidth right now? Do it with Titan

Titan is an AI that lives on your computer: tell it what you need and it does it while you watch — you press Return, nothing runs by itself. What is Titan?

Titan isn’t on this computer yet. Get Titan, then press the button again — the task will be waiting, typed in.
