Force quit a frozen app

Press ⌥⌘Esc, pick the app, and click Force Quit. If even that window will not open, Terminal can end it by name with killall.

Without Terminal

  1. Press ⌥⌘Esc (Option-Command-Escape).
  2. Select the frozen app.
  3. Click Force Quit.

In one command

End an app by its name (the name as shown in the Dock):

killall "Microsoft Word"

Force quitting loses anything unsaved in that app. Give it a minute first if it is busy saving.

Or just ask Titan
Zoom is frozen — close it and open it again. Do it with Titan

Titan is an AI that lives on your computer: tell it what you need and it does it while you watch — you press Return, nothing runs by itself. What is Titan?

Titan isn’t on this computer yet. Get Titan, then press the button again — the task will be waiting, typed in.
