Record audio

Open QuickTime Player and choose File → New Audio Recording, then press the red button. The Voice Memos app does the same and keeps a list of recordings.

Without Terminal

  1. Open QuickTime Player.
  2. File → New Audio Recording.
  3. Press record; press again to stop, then ⌘S to save.

In one command

Make the recording smaller to send, once saved:

afconvert -f m4af -d aac recording.aiff recording.m4a
Or just ask Titan
Make my voice recordings on the Desktop small enough to email. Do it with Titan

Titan is an AI that lives on your computer: tell it what you need and it does it while you watch — you press Return, nothing runs by itself. What is Titan?

Titan isn’t on this computer yet. Get Titan, then press the button again — the task will be waiting, typed in.
